 PARENT INFORMATION

Perspectives on Parenting presents our most enjoyable seminar of the school year:  “Been There and Should Have Done That” tomorrow in the EVHS Media Center at 7:00 pm.  A panel of 2007 EVHS graduates will talk about how to make the most of high school, how to choose a college, and how they have survived their first semester of college (roommates, homesickness, managing money, partying and…oh yeah, studying).  Bring your child (gr. 9-12) and find out about all those conversations you should be having with your college-bound student so they can prepare and be successful.

Senior parents—there's less than five months until your Senior Poster is due!  Keep your stress low—attend a workshop now to get started.  The first workshop is next Thursday, January 17 from 7-8 pm in the student commons.  Remember you need only kindergarten skills to put together an awesome poster - so don't be intimidated! There will be two other workshops on Tuesday, February 12 and Saturday, March 15.

Limited release CD – The EVHS Music Department is selling a CD featuring musical highlights from The Quest Unending – our June 4, 2007 celebration of 10 years of Performing Arts at Eastview High School.  The cost is $15 and can be purchased in the Main Office.

The Varsity Boys’ Basketball team won its third game in row with an 84-42 win over Lakeville South last night.  With the win, the team improves the season record to 7-1 and 3-1 in the Lake Conference.  The team defense in the second half was outstanding, holding the Cougars to just 15 second half points.  Tim Massie & Michael Grinnell once again lead the team with 9 rebounds and 6 rebounds respectively.  The team also used a balance scoring attack with 4 players in double figures.  Senior Ethan Thomforde led all scorers with 25, followed by Sanders and Emory with 16, and Drew Johnson added 11.  The team travels to Lakeville North on Friday to take on the Panthers.  Thank you to all of our fans for their support so far this season.

The Boys JV Basketball team improved to 7-1 on the season with a convincing win over Lakeville South. The lightning came up and played great pressure defense and took a 32-13  lead into halftime. The 9A Boys Basketball team suffered their third lose of the season falling to Eden Prairie 55-46.  The Lightning had a hard time getting easy baskets in the paint and the inability to knock down short range jumpers made it hard to get anything started.  Frank Veldman had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Shane McSparron also added 9 points for Eastview.  Next up for the Lightning is Shakopee at Eastview on Friday, hope to see you there.

The Lightning Girls’ Varsity Basketball team returned to Lake Conference action with a convincing win over Lakeville South, running their perfect conference record to 8-0.  Balanced scoring and a strong defense led to a 40-16 point halftime lead.  Brittnye McSparron led the balanced Lightning offensive attack with 20 points, closely followed by Danae Moore with 15 and Sam Mehr with 13.  Emily Kaus led the Lightning with 8 rebounds and also contributed 9 points.  Danae Moore grabbed 7 rebounds.  The Lightning return to action with a game tomorrow against Lake Conference and new section rival Lakeville North at home.  Be there for Lynx night and for a classic Lake Conference battle.  We appreciate your support!
