 PARENT INFORMATION 

Perspectives on Parenting is sponsoring a seminar on “College Financial Aid (FAFSA, Loans, Scholarship and Grants)” tonight at 7:00 pm in the EVHS Media Center.  A financial aid expert will help you and your student understand the college financial aid process.  This is a seminar that all seniors and their parents should attend. 

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                           

Parking passes can be picked up during lunch at the school store today. Semester 2 passes are not valid until Monday, February 4.  Please continue to use Semester 1 passes through January 31.

 

On Monday, January 28 a portion of all sales at Noodles & Company between the hours of 4:00-8:00 p.m. will be donated to the boy's basketball program. No ID is required, you don't even need to mention Eastview. Just grab your family and friends and eat at Noodles on Monday to help support boys basketball.

 

The Apple Valley Police Department is taking applications for you to join the Police Academy.  You have until February 1 to apply.  You can experience interesting knowledge on how law enforcement works.  See Diane Mathews to sign up!


COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                   

LATE registration for the February 9 ACT test is thru Friday.  Register at www.actstudent.org.

Regular Registration for the March 1 SAT test is January 29.  Register at www.collegeboard.com

Junior Girls!!!!  The American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring the Minnesota Girls State program at Bethel University the week of June 8 thru 14.  This is a great opportunity for young women who are interested in the functions of Minnesota government.  Information and applications are available in the Guidance Office.

 

Seniors!!!  The Minnesota Masonic Charities Signature Scholarship application is due February 15.  Five scholarships are awarded for $5,000.00 renewable for up to $20,000 for up to four years.  See Guidance Office for an application.

Akshar Rambachan capped off the best Debate season in team history by winning the state championship in Lincoln-Douglas debate.  Teammate Jake Branchaud-Linsk was a semi-finalist in the same tournament.  As a team, Eastview captured the championship in all three debate formats that it participates in.  Congratulations to Akshar and Jake.

 

The Annual NHS Dodgeball Tournament is coming up February 7 at 7:00 pm.  Sign up and register your team during lunch starting this Monday, the 28. It's $10 a person and six players on a team. There are prizes for categories like best team costume, and this year Dodgeball t-shirts will be on sale for everyone. It's a double elimination tournament, so get a team together to dip, dive, and dodge!

 

Eastview National Honor Society, in recognition of Black History Month is excited to present Ms. Nancy Giles to speak on Monday, February 11 beginning at 7:00 pm in the Performing Arts Center.  Ms. Giles is a regular contributor to the CBS Sunday Morning television program and an accomplished journalist.  Admission is FREE and open to the public; we hope that you can join us!  Please use the link to learn more about Ms. Giles: http://www.roycecarlton.com/speakers/giles.html

 

All Science Olympiad members need to meet tomorrow after school in C339 to determine the regional teams and to load boxes. Any team member who was NOT at the Lake Conference Tournament is asked to meet with Coach Engstrom ASAP for a t-shirt.
