SPORT SCORES

The Lightning Girls’ Varsity Basketball team kept their perfect conference record alive, running it to 9-0, with a hard fought win over Lakeville North.  Solid defense kept the Lightning in the game and helped overcome a sluggish offense to lead to a 20-20 halftime score.   The Lightning offense came alive in the second half leading to the win.  Brittnye McSparron led the Lightning with 17 points, followed by Sam Mehr with 11, and Danae Moore 10.  Rebounds were hard to come by with Cassie Sheppard snagging 5 and Danae Moore 4.  Emily Kaus and Hailey Thomforde contributed solid minutes off the bench.  The Lightning return to action on Tuesday with another Lake Conference battle against Bloomington Kennedy at home, completing they completing the first round of Lake Conference play.  Thanks to all the fans who came to support us in a critical conference game.  Come back on Tuesday for our next conference battle against Kennedy.  We appreciate your support!  Go Lightning!

The #19 ranked Girls Varsity Hockey team took on #1 Ranked Eden Prairie on Thursday. Try as the Lightning did they came up short losing 5-2 and ending a 5 game winning streak. The Lightning travel to Rosemount on Saturday, come out to watch the girls play as they try to start a new winning streak.

The Girls JV Hockey team won a hard fought battle against Eden Prairie last night 2-1. The Lightning, who had suffered two loses earlier this season to the Eagles, came out ready to play. Sami Nelson opened the scoring in the first period with an assist from Amy Hart. Sami returned the favor in the second period with a nice set up for Amy Hart to notch the game winner. With only 10 skaters every player dug deep for the extra energy to seal the deal. Goalie, Alicia Freeman stood strong in the final minutes to hold off the Eagles desperate attempt to tie the game. The Lightning travel to Hopkins next Thursday to play the Royals.
