SPORT SCORES

The Varsity Boys’ Basketball team improved to 12-4 on the season and 8-3 in conference play with a 78-61 win at Chaska on Friday night.  The team used a terrific team defensive effort in the first half by holding the Hawks to just 18 first half points.  The bench played tremendously as Grinnell, Emory, Massie, and Sanders controlled the glass.  The team travels to Apple Valley High School on Friday for their second contest against the rival Eagles.

The 9A Boy's Basketball team put together another great team defensive display Friday night by defeating Lakeville South 62-48.  The victory improves the Lightning's record to 18-4 overall and 8-3 in the Lake Conference.  Eastview rushed many Cougar shots, and caused them to turn the ball over 21 times.  Paul McWilliams dominated the boards with 7.  The Lightning's clutch free throw shooting in the second half, 8 for 10, sealed the deal.  Everyone got in the scoring column, with Andre Hunt leading the way with 15, and McWilliams 14.  Next up for Eastview is Bloomington Kennedy at home on Friday night.

The 9B Boys Basketball team won in exciting fashion Friday night at Lakeville South as they defeated the Cougars in overtime by 6 points.  The Lightning fell way behind early with many turnovers and cold shooting, but aggressive defense got Eastview back into the game as they were able to force overtime.  Defensively Eastivew was led by David Barry, Kyle Jonas, and Jack Yackowik.  Their aggressiveness payed off as numerous Eastview players were able to score on fastbreak opportunities.  It was Matt Larson's two big free throws that sealed the 8th win in a row for Eastview.  Up next is Burnsville Metcalf tomorrow.

The Lightning Girls’ Varsity Basketball team kept their perfect conference record alive, running it to 15-0, with a home victory over Chaska.  The Lightning overcame some foul troubles in the first half and opened up an 11 point, 31-20 halftime lead.  Brittnye McSparron led all scorers with 30 with Sam Mehr, Danae Moore, and Haley Thomforde each contributing 10 points.   Strong team defense and key contributions from the bench from Emily Kaus, Kelsey North, Steph Glynn, and Brittany Raymond helped lead to the win.  The team will play a non-conference tomorrow against Roseville at home and then return to Lake Conference action on Friday with a home game against Apple Valley.  Be there, we appreciate your support!

The Varsity Boys Hockey team added a win to their record by beating Lakeville North 9-3 on Saturday afternoon.  Lakeville scored first in the first just a minute and a half into the period.  They added a second before the Lightning would come alive.  EV's Perry (from Maloney and Larson) put the game at 2-1 at the 8:00 minute mark of the period. EV tied the game --Maloney (from Larson and Perry) two minutes later.  But Lakeville answered back scoring at 15:46 of the first sending the Lightning to their locker room behind 3-2.   But EV decided they wanted a win and the remainder of the game featured all EV scoring- Budweg (unassisted) at 6:03 of the second, then Larson (from Maloney and Fienhage) at 12:27 of the 2nd and then Larson again (from Perry) at 14:18 to end the period.  In the third EV added 4 more goals- Perry (Fienhage, Larson); Larson (for the Hat Trick)  from Gorski and Sjostrom; Sjostrom (first Varsity goal!) from Parranto and Budweg; and finally EV's Chacich from Anderson.  Ryan O'Shea was in nets for the win and recorded 20 saves. The team will take on conference rival Burnsville tomorrow night at Apple Valley Sports Center-game time is 7:15 pm.  This game will be televised live on FSN North and we expect a large crowd. Arrive early to assure a seat and to show your support for Lightning hockey!!  Don't forget to wear your black and/or blue!  Good luck boys!
