PARENT SECTION                                                   

Perspectives on Parenting announces the last College Planning Seminar of the year: College Planning for Grades 9-11” has been RESCHEDULED from Thursday, March 6 to Wednesday, April 2 at 7:30 pm in the EVHS Performing Arts Center.  A panel of college admissions representatives from 2 and 4-year private and public colleges and universities will present a broad overview of the college admission process.  This panel presentation will follow the District 196 Minnesota Educational College Fair to be held at Eastview on April 2 from 4-7 pm.

 

Quarter 2 Report Cards came home with your student. However, if your student owes detentions he/she will receive the Quarter 2 Report Card once all detentions are completed.  Please check Parent Portal to determine if your student has completed all detentions. Students who were absent last week can pick up their report cards in the Guidance Office.  

 

There will be a Boys Lacrosse player & parent meeting tonight at 6:30 pm in Room C250 for all prospective players of the upcoming spring season. If a player cannot attend due to an Eastview activity, attendance of a parent is still requested. The Lacrosse booster club will also be setting up apparel orders after this meeting.

Senior Parents:  Class of 2008 Senior Party Memory Wall – Entry extended until April 1.  We are creating a memory wall that will be displayed during the party and we need your help.  Please create a personal message from you to your senior, include your student name and a 50 word max message and e-mail it to Sandy Sauve at Ssauve@charter.net

SENIOR SECTION                                                    

If you are an Eagan resident, you may apply for the Eagan Foundation Scholarship at http://www.eaganfoundation.org/  The completed application must be postmarked February 29 and the applicants will all be notified around mid-April.

COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                   

Juniors!!  Registration for the April 12 ACT test is March 7.  

 

Minnesota Zoo Career Days is on March 11.  Students interested in science careers including zoo keeping, animal handling, veterinarian, etc. are highly recommend to attend.  Register online at mnzoo.org   The cost is $30.  Further information can be picked up in the Guidance Office.   

 

Materials Camp at a U of MN –Twin Cities is June 10–14.  Juniors and sophomores interested in learning about the materials engineering field are encouraged to attend.  It is free and applications are online at http://www.mnasm.org/camp/  and are due March 30.  Teacher recommendation is also required and to be completed online.  See Guidance Office for further information.

The Dakota Electric Washington, D.C. tour for June 14 thru the 19th still has openings for students. Students can pick up information in the Guidance Office or go to http://www.dakotaelectric.com/youthdc.aspp . We have had students attend in the past and highly recommend the experience.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                      

There will be an important preseason meeting for anyone interested in playing Baseball this spring.  Attend a meeting in C250 tomorrow at either 7:00 am or 2:45 pm.  See Coach Strey if you have any questions or are unable to attend the meeting.

 

Girls Golf meeting:  March 4 3:00-4:00 Room C250. All girls’ planning to try out for the girls’ golf team this spring should e-mail Coach Boldus to receive a registration packet before the meeting.  Please have all forms completed and turned in by March 7.  boldus@charter.net or Robert.Boldus@district196.org

 

The final Ski and Snowboard Club trip to Welch Village for Thursday, March 6 has been rescheduled for the following Thursday, March13 due to parent / teacher conferences. 

 

All Boys Swimmers and Divers the final team meeting of the year will be held in Room  B329 tomorrow at 2:35 pm.  Please bring your uniforms to turn in and come prepared to vote for team awards.

Attention all Girls interested in playing Lacrosse this spring...Coach Garnet Asmundson will be holding an informational meeting today in Room C350 at Eastview High School from 2:30 till 3:30 pm. Any and all girls interested in playing Lacrosse should plan to attend. If your unable to make the meeting please see Lindsey Day or Caitlin Hart for more information.  

 

There will be a meeting for all boys interested in playing Tennis this Friday after school in Room C250.  Everyone who wishes to take part in captain’s practices should turn in $20.

 

There will be a Boys Track and Field meeting today after school in C250 at 2:35 for all athletes interested.  If you can’t attend the meeting information should be picked up from Coach Swanson in C138 before school or in C250 during passing time.”

 

Girls’ Track and Field athletes please turn in your order forms by today to Coach Fischer or Barkley on 3rd floor this week.

 

A reminder to all Softball players – Please complete paperwork through the Main Office prior to practices beginning next week.  If you have any questions or concerns please stop in to see Coach Haugh as soon as possible.  The first practice for all 9th grade players begins at 6:45 pm on Monday, March 3.

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                 

The Varsity Boys Basketball team lost in overtime last night 63-60 to Burnsville.  The final home game of the season will be this Friday vs. Jefferson.  Thanks to all who showed up in support of the boys last night.  It is very much appreciated.

 

The Eastview Lightning Boy’s 10th Grade Basketball team fell 4 points shy of a victory last night at Burnsville high school. The final score was 64-62.  Michael Rademacher had 9 points and played great pressure defense.  Austin Brown had 16 points and 7 assist.  Corey Styles had 8 points and had 6 rebounds.  The boys look to bounce back with a victory on Friday February 29 at home against Jefferson, 4:30 pm. 

 

The 9A Boys Basketball team lost a hard fought game with Rosemount Tuesday night 57-54.  The loss drops their record to 24-7 overall and 12-5 in the Lake Conference.  Eastview had their shooting eye on target, by making seven three point shots for the game.  Andre Hunt had five three pointers and Lethzee Calderon two.  The Lightning played a solid defensive game, causing the Irish to turn the ball over 18 times.  Paul McWilliams dominated the glass with a game high 14 rebounds.  Leading the way in scoring were Hunt with 23, Shane McSparron 13 and Lethzee Calderon 9.  Next up for Eastview is at Nicollet Jr. High on Friday.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

Eastview National Honor Society is sponsoring the annual Red Cross Blood Drive which will be held on Tuesday, March 4 throughout the school day in the south gym.  Students who are at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds are encouraged to register as a donor in the East Commons during lunch.  Give the gift of life and register to be a donor today!
