SPORT SCORES

The Varsity Boys’ Basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 76-50 win over Chaska last night.  The team used a strong defensive second half to increase their 33-30 halftime lead.  A strong balanced offensive attack was the key in the victory.  Sanders lead with 18, Emory 13, Pratt 9, Thomforde 8, and Hufford 7.  Emory and Grinnell lead in rebounding with 8 each.  The boys will work to increase their streak to 3 games as they take on Park Center on Friday night at EVHS.  Thank you to all who showed up and supported the team.

Eastview Boys JV Basketball team went into the half tied at 36 vs. Chaska on Tuesday night. They turned up the pressure defensively and held Chaska to 13 points in the 2nd half to win 69-49. Drew Bjordahl led the way with 23 points including 4 3 point FG's. Andrew McLean added 19 points and Chris Hall chipped in with 14 points. The boys are 2-0 on the season and will host Park Center on Friday.

The 9A Boys Basketball team improved their record to 4-1 with a 80-32 victory Tuesday night over Bloomington Kennedy.  Team defense was the key factor in the win again.  Eastview out rebounded the Eagles 31-15 and caused 29 turnovers.  On offense the Lightning were able to shoot close range all night, only taking two shots outside the ten foot range.  Leading the way in scoring were Paul McWilliams and Frank Veldman with 20 each, and Jacob Ulrich 10.  Eastview's next opponent is Eagan at Eastview on Friday night.

The Eastview 9B Boy's Basketball team improved to 4 - 1 on the season with a 68 - 21 win over Bloomington Kennedy last night.  The Lightning defense led the way as Kennedy was held without a basket for the first 8 minutes of the game.  Offensively the Lightning were led by Khalil Jordan and Matt Larson.  Up next is Eagan on Friday.

After a slow start for both teams the Lightning Varsity Girls Basketball team offense got on track and built a 20 point halftime lead.  A solid Chaska team never quit, playing hard in the second half but could not overcome a strong Lightning  half at both ends of the floor as the Lightning ended with an 11 point win.  The strong defensive effort was led by Danae Moore who continually disrupted the Chaska offense.  Brittnye McSparron once again led all scorers with 30 points, with Danae Moore contributing 13.  Cassie Sheppard played another consistent game at both ends of the floor ending the game with 6 rebounds.  Brittany Rud knocked down some key shots in the first half and snagged 5 rebounds. The Lightning move their season record to 6-0, 5-0 in the Lake.  They journey on Friday for a tough road nonconference game against new section opponent Park of Cottage Grove. Come support us as we battle a tough opponent on the road.  Be there, we appreciate your support!

Our Lightning Gymnastics Girls did well in their meet with Rosemount last night. Varsity scores RH: 140.7 to EVHS 133.65 and JV scores RH: 122.9 and EVHS:121.25.   Both teams improved their scores, as they impressed the judges with solid routines.  4 of the 5 varity competitors "stuck" their beam routines.  Way to go Brittany Stumpf, Kjirsten Jacobson, Jessie Huff, and Erika Ellingsen.  Special congratulations to Sophie Runing, Maddie Poulson, and Shannon Hanson for competing in your first high school meet. Be sure to support the Varsity this Saturday at 10:00 for the Abby Szott Invitational. The team holds this annual event as a fundraiser for the Szott Foundation.

The Varsity Boys Hockey team added a game to their win column with a convincing 6-2 victory over Chaska last night. Putting the numbers up for the Lightning were Sophomore Travis Schweiger (Hat Trick), Junior Michael Friedman with 2 goals, and Senior Defensemen Nick Budweg.  Tyler Krob turned away 22 shots for the win.  The Lightning take on Lakeville North Sat. afternoon at Apple Valley Sports Arena

The 9th Grade Wrestling team went 1-1 tuesday night defeating Henry Sibley 33-28, and falling to 54-33 over Park going 2-0 on the night included Josh Myers, Ben Schmitz, Matt Galloway, and Jake Hannan.
