 PARENT INFORMATION 

There will be a Downhill Ski Booster meeting tonight at 7:00 pm at All Saints Lutheran Church, 3810 Lexington Ave., in Eagan.  Our first race is this Thursday, so we have much to discuss.  All parents are welcome!

 

Several students who have parked in the Teen Center Parking Lot have gotten tickets from the Apple Valley police for parking in a park after 10:00 pm.  If your student parks in the Teen Center during the school day and doesn’t plan to be back until late, be sure to remind your student to move his or her car to the EVHS parking lot right after school (for safety and parking ticket reasons).

 

Yearbook orders are due on December 21 for $70.  After December 21, the price increases to $75.  All yearbook orders are due January 31.  Yearbook orders can be dropped off in the Main Office.  Click on the below link to access and print the yearbook order form. Do you have old cell phones and printer cartridges?  If so, you can turn them into the Eastview High School Main Office.  This program has been a great way to generate resources for our school while recycling old cell phones and printer cartridges.

 

Senior Parents

Senior Party - In early November, you should have received a four page letter containing important information about the 2008 Senior Graduation Party.  The letter contained information regarding: Donations, Target Gift Registry (search under Line 1 = Eastview, Line 2 = 2008 Eastview Senior Party), Parent Volunteers, Memory Wall (Due December 1), 2008 Senior Party Ticket Information, Senior Posters and Senior Party Raffle/Fundraiser. Please review the contents of the letter.  If you are planning to purchase a party ticket for your senior (great holiday gift) and/or raffle ticket – please send in your money as soon as possible.  If you haven’t sent in your memory wall words for your student, please e-mail them to stevenjkulseth@msn.com.  Please consider volunteering!  Planning a party for 600 students takes a great deal of work and can only be accomplished if we have a great number of people helping.  If you are planning to volunteer to help work the party, please send an e-mail to dgoblirsch@charter.net. The Senior Party Committee is working hard to make sure that our students have a very memorable, enjoyable, alcohol free, graduation party! If you did not receive the senior letter, please send an e-mail message to Hensley138@aol.com to have one resent.

Senior Party Raffle - Don't forget about the Senior Party Raffle Drawing on February 15!!!  A $5 ticket will get you a chance to win one of the following prizes:  dinner for 4 at Enjoy!; a $500 value teeth whitening system; two Spring Bravo tickets (two sets offered); one free ticket to the Senior Party (two tickets offered); one autographed Rihanna umbrella and her CD (two sets offered)!  Buy as many tickets as you like!  Contact Janis Fuller (jantimfuller@comcast.net) if you need a raffle ticket form. This is a great way to support those that may not be able to afford the party.

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Varsity Boys Basketball team opened its season on Saturday night with a 63-46 win over Prior Lake.  The boys used a tough pressure defense that forced the Lakers into 32 turnovers on the night.  Ethan Thomforde lead the Lightning with 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 block shots.  Spencer Pratt connected on 3 three pointers in the second half that help build the lead to 21 points.  Tim Hufford, Vinard Birch, and Drew Johnson also led the defensive attach from the guard position.  Senior Johnie Sanders lead the team in scoring with 14 points while Michael Grinnell added 7 points and 5 rebounds.

 

The Lightning Boys JV Basketball team started off their season with an impressive win over Prior Lake on Saturday night.  The boys took a 31-19 lead into the half before turning up the pressure defensively with their full court press to outscore Prior Lake 44-21 in the 2nd half. The final score was 75-40 and leading the way was Chris Hall with a game high 20 Points, Andrew McLean had 19 Points and Collin Riedlinger added 17 off the bench. The boys play at home vs. Chaska on Tuesday.

 

The 9A Boys Basketball team won two and lost one in the EVAA traveling basketball tournament this past weekend, giving them a third place finish.  In the first game the boys defeated Tartan 45-34.  The semi final matched up was against Lake Conference rival Lakeville North, with Lakeville North getting the victory 45-36.  Facing another Lake conference opponent, Eden Prairie in the third place game, the Lightning were victorious 48-47.  The boys played with heart, determination, and great team work to improve their record to 3-1.  Congratulations Hunter Abramson, David Barry, Andre Hunt, Shane McSparron, Paul McWilliams, Ryan Osgar, Derek Schatz, Jacob Ulrich, Frank Veldman.  The next game is Tuesday at Bloomington Kennedy.

 

The 9th Grade Boys B basketball team took third place in this weekends Eastview Tournament.  Playing relentless defense the boys defeated Woodbury and Hastings by 20 and lost on a buzzer beater to Stillwater.  Congrats to Matt Larson, Scott Sikich, Jake Goetz, Trayjohn Cumber, Gavin Carleton, Lethzee Calderon, Khalil Jordan, Kyle Jonas, and Jack Yakowicz.  Up next is at Bloomington Kennedy on Tuesday.

 

The Lightning Varsity Girls' Basketball team extended their 10 point halftime lead to nearly 30 with suffocating defense to defeat their neighboring rival Rosmount 72-45.  Brittnye McSparron once again led all scorers with 23 points, with Sam Mehr contributing 15, and Danae Moore 10.  Junior Emily Kaus came off the bench and snagged 8 rebounds, her best contribution of the year.  Sophomore Haley Thomforde, Junior Kelsey North, and Senior Brittany Rayman also contributed strong minutes off the bench with Kelsey scoring 8 points.  The Lightning move their season record to 5-0, 4-0 in the Lake.  They journey on Tuesday to Lake Conference rival Chaska.  Thanks for the great fan support on Friday, join us on the road at Chaska.  We apprecitate your support!  

 

Congratulations to the Lightning Dance Teams who competed at home this past Saturday at the Eastview Invitational. The JV team placed 3rd in Jazz and took home another 1st place in High Kick. The Varsity team remains undefeated in High Kick taking home another 1st place, and also placed 2nd in Jazz behind Maple Grove. Come out and cheer on the Varsity team tonight at Rosemount at 7:30 for their final Lake Conference regular season meet.

 

The Varsity Boys Hockey team lost in OT on Sat. night to district rival Rosemount.  The Lightning were on the board first just 4 minutes into the first period. (Friedman from Schweiger).  The Irish tied the game and very early in the second scored again to take a 2-1 lead.  Corey Fienhage tied the game shortly afterwards on a power play goal. Rosemount went ahead  again ending the second  period 3-2.  Rosemount scored a short handed goal very early in the third to take a 2 goal lead.  The Lightning battled back.  Senior Defenseman Joe Peters scored 2 power play goals a couple minutes apart giving the Lightning new life.  The OT was short lived as Rosemount put away a power play goal to give them the win.  The Lightning out shot the Irish 25-20.  Tuesday's game at AV pairs the Lightning with Chaska.  Game time is 6:00 pm

 

On Thursday the Girls Varsity Hockey team extended their winning streak to 5 games by beating sectional foe Woodbury 5-1. After a slow start the Lightning broke through late in the first period on a goal by Meaghan Brigl, assisted by Kaitlyn Leininger & Laura Gengler. The Lightning broke the game wide open in the second period with three goals. First Emily Snodgrass from Kayla Terlinde & Courtney Kukowski and then Snodgrass from Kukowski. Finally Laura Gengler from Brigl. The third period saw Snodgrass complete the hat trick with an assist to Christine Fries. This game also featured Kelly Meyer suit up for her first Varsity game. Lindsay Kauchick made 23 saves for the Lightning.

 

The JV Girls Hockey team beat the Burnsville Blaze 5-1 on Saturday night at the AVSC. Leading the way for the Lightning was Sophie DesLauriers with 2 goals and 1 assist. Also scoring were Sami Nelson 1 goal, 1 assist, Amy Hart 1 goal, Lindsay Day 1 goal, Lindsey Wilharm 2 assists and Sarah Fashant 1 assist. Caitlyn Hart made 20 saves. The JV team, is now 8-1 for the season and continue to improve each game. Next opponent is at Bloomington Jefferson Thursday night.

 

The Boys Swim and Dive team started the season with a powerful showing against Kennedy last Friday with Eastview taking 1st in 10 of the 12 events.  There were great performances already this early in the season - showing how hard the team has worked in the off season.  Swimmers and Divers taking 1st or 2nd in individual events included: Jon McDonald, Joe Poblocki, Andy Akason, Mike Placeway, Nate Riha, Ryan O'Neill, Matt Lilledahl, and Sam Rauchwarter.   Next meet is this Friday at Falcon Ridge Middle school.

 

The Varsity Wrestling team earned one win on Saturday defeating Columbia Heights by a score of 59-10.  Earning 3 wins on the day was Mitch Rechtzigel.  Earning 2 wins were Brad Hogan, Scot Hogan, David Ly, Ben Bowar & Dijon Sanders.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                           

There is a team meeting for all Debaters at 2:35 pm in A300 today.

Limited release CD – The EVHS Music Department is selling a CD featuring musical highlights from The Quest Unending – our June 4, 2007 celebration of 10 years of Performing Arts at Eastview High School.  The CD features performances by the EVHS Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Men’s and Women’s Chorales, and distinguished alumni.  Selections include “Carmina Burana,Make Our Garden Grow”, and the world premiere of “Footprint”s dedicated to our principal Dick Dewey in honor of his support for the performing arts.  The CD is available for $15 from band and choir students or in the Main Office.  This wonderful music would make a unique and special holiday gift for members of the Eastview community.

 

FCCLA members: Our Holiday M&M meeting today will be held at Whitney Stanton’s home at 7:00 pm! Check your email for address & details. We are also working concessions at the home basketball game on Tuesday December11. Sign up on the window in C138. There will be a short after school meeting on Thursday, December 6 for those who have signed up to host the children’s party this weekend. See Mrs. Svaren or Mrs. Hendrickson if you have questions.

 

The International Club will meet tomorrow at 2:45 in Rom B221. We will decorate gingerbread houses and discuss holiday celebrations around the world.

This is just a reminder that the penultimate LINC 301 meeting is tonight at 6:00 pm in the East Commons. 

 

Auditions for the One Act play will be held Thursday, December 13 beginning at 2:45 on stage.  Pick up materials and sign up in the Main Office.

 

There will be an important meeting for all SADD members on Wednesday morning at 7:00 am in Room A101.  If you can’t be there please contact Mrs. Hoffman or one of the leaders
