PARENT SECTION                                                   

Parent volunteers are needed to greet at the North Door Welcome Desk tomorrow and Monday, April 7 in the morning (8:15-11:00), and on April 10 and 11 in the afternoon (11:00-1:45).  Please contact Paula Zeilon at pcnews@charter.net or 952-423-7142 if you can help.  New volunteers are needed!

 

Student Absence Call-in Information:

For a Full Day Absence, please use the attendance line in the voicemail system.    

    * 651.683.6969 extension 98677 or 98678 (please note the extension is a change from previous years)

    * If you call in for your student by 1:00 pm you will not need to send a note the following day.

For all other attendance issues (late arrival, messages to students, etc.)  please call the Attendance Office at 952.431.8921 or 8922.

 

Please check with Parent Portal to determine if your student has completed all detentions he or she owes prior to the end of quarter 3 (April 11).  Any detentions not completed will result in suspensions from school.  The 3 options for detentions follow:

With Winter Sports recently concluded and Spring Sports already underway, we want to be sure to get your feedback on the sport your son/daughter participated in.  The survey is available online at http://www.district196.org/Survey/takeSurvey.asp?surveyID=152&pageNumber=1 and is completely anonymous.  The survey is available for completion all year long on the Eastview High School home page under the heading “Athletics” and the tab “Parent Survey.”  Thanks for your input and continued support of Lightning Athletics!

 

On Monday, April 14 all athletes and their parents are encouraged to attend a presentation on playing collegiate athletics.  This presentation will include information on the realities of collegiate athletic scholarships and participation, the recruiting process, the NCAA clearinghouse, eligibility requirements and much more!  We are very pleased to have Adam McCombs from JumpForward.com join us for this presentation.  As a District 196 alum and former collegiate athlete himself he has put together a FREE service to assist anyone in the process of competing in athletics at the collegiate level.  The meeting will be held in Lecture Room C250 starting at 7:00 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE START TIME AS AN EARLIER MESSAGE SAID 6:00!!) and is open to ANY interested student, parent, coach etc. 

 

SENIOR SECTION                                                    

We are looking for candid photos from the past four years to be place in the Senior Video.  There is a drop box in the Main Office for pictures.  Please label them if you want them to be returned.

Seniors!!!  The Senior Scholarship on-line application has a minor glitch on the 2nd page.  We apologize for the problem and are checking out the problem.  We hope to have the online application problem taken care of as soon as possible.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                 

Tonight at 3:00 pm there will be Peer Court in Room C250. You can experience a court case and possibly be a volunteer juror for the judge. There will be a few court cases with Judge Poch and a prosecuting attorney.    

 

Please check with Parent Portal to determine if you have completed all detentions you owe prior to the end of quarter 3 (April 11).  Any detentions not completed will result in suspensions from school.  The 3 options for detentions are before school, after school or Saturday morning.

Do you have any outgrown prom dresses?  Any gently used shoes, shawls, jewelry or purses that would be good for prom?  If so, please consider donating to Operation Glass Slipper, a charitable organization created for girls’ right here in the twin cities who cannot afford dresses for prom.  For more information, check out their website at www.operationglassslipper.org.  If you are interested in donating to this worthy cause, there will be a drop-off box located in the Main Office through tomorrow.

 

Registration is open for 8th hour classes offered during the fourth quarter of the 2007-2008 school year.  These 8th hour classes are a part of our extended day program that provides students an opportunity to recover credit lost from a course they attended during the standard school term.  Registration forms are in the guidance office.  The registration deadline is Monday April 7.  A brief description of the course offerings and attendance date/times are listed below.  Any other questions may be directed to the program coordinator Thomas Sharp at thomas.sharp@district196.org

 

Eastview will provide after school make-up classes from Tuesday April 15 to Thursday June 5 for students wishing to earn English, Math, Social Studies, Science, or Wellness credit towards graduation.  A Basic Standards Test preparation course is also available for elective credit. The classes will be for make-up credit only; course availability is dependent on class enrollment.  There is no cost for these classes.  This program is only open to Eastview High School attendance area students.  Classes will run Tuesday through Thursdays beginning at 2:30 pm and ending at 3:50 pm.  Classes will be worth the equivalent of a one-quarter course or .75 credits. 

 

COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                                                   

Juniors - If you are interested in political science and the government process, you are invited to participate in the Boys State Program in Marshall, Minnesota  June 15 thru 21.  Please pick up an application in the Guidance Office.  The deadline is April 11. 

 

A representative from Michigan Tech will be in the Career Center today during 4th hour.

 

Both the Eastview High School and Eastview Community Foundation Scholarship deadlines have been extended to tomorrow .  Students having trouble accessing the EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL online scholarship application can go to http://www.district196.org/evhs/studentservices/guidance/FinancialAid/FinancialAid.asp and on the left side under the EASTVIEW HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP heading, click #2.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Mathews in the Guidance Office.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                      

Attention to those interested in trying out for Eastview High School Cheerleading: There will be pre tryout clinics held April 7, 8 and 10 from 6
to
7:30 in the North Gym. The cost is $10. Material that will help you at tryouts will be taught each night. Come to one or come to all. Tryout practices are April 14, 15 and17 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 in the Main Gym. A review day will be held April 16 from 3 to 5. The actual tryout will be April 19 starting at 8:30 am.

 

The Intramural Golf season is about to get underway. We will be playing 5 rounds of golf in a variety of different formats at Parkview Golf Course in Eagan. I have received dates from Parkview so all students should stop by and sign up for tee times. The fee is $75 and please see Mrs. Beckman in the Main Office to register. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Frost in the A2 cluster. Registration is due by the first day of golf on April 14. Space is limited so stop by soon!

 

JV and Varsity Boys Lacrosse are to meet in C350 from 6:45 - 8:30 pm for a study session, chalk talk and game film.

 

9 & 10th Grade Boys Lacrosse has practice in the gyms from 6:45 - 9:00 pm.

 

Boys Lacrosse hats are available. The Lacrosse Booster Club will be present at 6:30 tonight to collect $15 for all preordered hats, and will have extras available on a first come first serve basis.

 

Registration for Intramural Softball is starting.  The cost to participate is $40 which includes a t-shirt.  All games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school between 2:45 and 6:00 pm.  Registrations are due by April 16.  If you have any questions please see Ms. Beckmann in the Main Office or call 952-431-8904.

There will be a meeting tomorrow for Best Buddies in C250 at 7:00 am and 2:30.  Please come if you can.  We’ll be discussing prom and other fun things.

 

FCA - Does it feel like something's been missing from your life on Monday nights for the last month?  FCA will be back on track starting Monday April 7 at 7:00.  We're still meeting at the Placeways, so come join us.  Newcomers are always welcome.  Stop by the Guidance Office for more information and directions.

 

There will be an Investment Club meeting on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 am in C239 to pick up fundraising product and receive fundraiser awards.  All who participated in the fundraiser MUST attend.
