Our All School Awards Assembly has been moved from May 28 to June 4 beginning at 8:51 am in the Main Gym.  Please note this change on your calendars.

Support our EVHS Speech Team!   Beginning May 12 through June 1, Pahl’s Market will donate 10% of your total purchases to the Speech Team.  All you need to do is mention the EVHS Speech Team when you are checking out and Pahl’s will do the rest.  This is an easy way to help the team while making your garden beautiful!

 

EVHS Introduces B.O.L.T.S. 2008Building Our Learning Throughout Summer!

We are building on our traditional summer programs by offering a series of elective-credit academic camps focusing on enrichment and skill development.  Check out our BOLTS 2008 Registration Guide, with course descriptions (13 courses available, from each of the four core content areas as well as several elective areas), session scheduling (four different sessions running from June 23 – July 24), and registration information (register online!).  These camps and courses are tuition-based, with financial aid available.  Contact Jodi Hanson – EVHS Student Services (952.431.8920 or jodi.hanson@district196.org) with questions or for more information.

 

Parents - Please mark your calendars now for PAK's annual Staff Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 14.  Volunteers will provide trays with parent donated breakfast foods as a way of expressing our thanks to all the EV staff.  Watch for information on how you can volunteer, donate goodies or make a monetary contribution for this special day.

Junior Parents: Mark your calendars… The 2008 senior parents invite you to join us on May 5 at 7:00 pm at Eastview High School, Room C250 so that your class can start your preparations for the 2009 Senior Class Party.  During this meeting, we will provide an overview of the party and the various committees that you will want to consider when planning the 2009 party.  Volunteer postions that need to be filled ASAP for this year’s party from Junior Parents2008 Senior Party Clean Up Chairperson and Security – Tradition states that Junior parents are in charge of cleaning up this year’s senior party and in charge of security on Friday June 13,  3:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Junior parents are also needed to help pick up donated food items -  Friday, June 13, afternoon and evening. COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION                                               

Juniors!!  If you are interested in the healthcare field, you have an opportunity spend 2 full days in a hospital setting accompanying a physician on their hospital rounds, watch actual procedures as they are being performed and questioning medical students and residents.  The course is July 31 thru August 1 and the cost is $150.  Students are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.  Pick up a packet and registration from in the Guidance Office.

 

Deadline registration for the June 14 ACT test is Friday, May 9.  Registration for the June 7 SAT test is May 6.  Students may register on line for the ACT test at www.actstudent.org and www.collegeboard.com for the SAT test.  Registration packets are also available in the Guidance Office.

Eastview Boys Lacrosse take on Chaska tonight at 6:30 at home.   Come  cheer them on to a victory. JV plays at 4:30 at home and the 9/10 team plays at 5:00 on field 8.

 

The Girl’s Track and Field team will be selling Gerten’s Plant Cards. Each card sells for $25 and can be used to purchase plants at Gerten’s. They do not expire. SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The Lightning Varsity Baseball validated its #1 metro ranking by defeating Lakeville North 5-2 behind the pitching of Nick Dolsky and hitting of Zach RybergDolsky threw a complete game and recorded 14 strikeouts, while Ryberg got the scoring started with a 2 RBI triple in the first inning.  The Lightning are back in action this afternoon at Apple Valley.

 

The Sophomore Baseball team lost to Lakeville North 10-2 on Monday.

 

Matt Larson pitched a complete game gem to lead the 9A Baseball team to a 7-1 victory over Lakeville North.

 

The Girls Varsity Golf team once again were faced with difficult course conditions as they teed off in the 36 degree frigid air with snow falling on Monday at the Chaska Town Course for the Chaska Invitational.  The girls placed 10th, just missing 9th place by one stroke.  Scoring for the Lightning were Ally Huang, Bre Mathiesen, Anna Drahos and Kristi Opatz.  The team has a fun Adult/Player event today at Valleywood & Parkview and resume Lake Conference play Thursday at Rich Acres.

 

The B Squad Girls Lacrosse team battled the Prior Lake Lakers which ended with a 3-3 tie.  Leading the way for Eastview was Ashley Holte with 2 goals and a assist by Sophie DesLauriers.  Also scoring was Bri MacDonald with 1 goal.  The team worked very hard with special recognition to goalie Haley Krumm for successfully blocking several attempts from the Prior Lake Lakers.  The next game is at home on Wednesday at 4:45 against Cretin Derham Hall.  Go Eastview!

 

The Varsity Softball team fell to undefeated Jefferson yesterday 3-1.  Eastview had several scoring chances in the last few innings, but the “big clutch hit” was too elusive.  Solid defense kept the team in the game, and junior Steff Glynn’s towering double provided the offensive highlight of the game, but it wasn’t enough. The Lightning host Lakeville North on Wednesday and Rosemount on Friday.

 

The Lightening JV Softball is back on the winning track after a 9 - 3 victory over Bloomington Jefferson.  The Lightening put together 9 hits over 6 innings including an over the fence 2 run shot by Carlie Wagner in the 5th inning.  Kayleigh Montgomery provided tremendous defense at 1st base and catcher Sam Mahoney called a great game for pitcher Sarah Griffith who posted her third win of the season with six strikeouts and only 2 walks.

 

The Freshman Softball team defeated the Jefferson Jaguars on Monday by the score of 4-0.  The squad evened it’s record at 4-4 and will travel to Sibley High School on Tuesday.

 

The Boys Varsity Tennis team survived the cold and defeated the Panthers of Lakeville 6-1 improving there record to 5-2 in the Lake conference. Winning were Alex at #1 Singles Vadim at #2 Singles Josh at #3 Singles Will at #4 Singles and the Doubles Teams of Brad and Colin and Kevin and Rohit Great job Guys!!!

 

The cold didn't stop the Lightning Boys Track team from coming up with a big time performance at the high powered St. Thomas Invite while taking 3rd as a team.  First place finishes were by:  Will Jackson 400, David Pearcill Triple Jump, Sean Wells Long Jump, 4x400 relay of(Jackson, Burkstrand, Mittelsteadt, Ferguson) Second by: Travis Burkstrand 1600, 4x800 relay of(Osborn, Kump, Mittelsteadt. Maloney)and Third included:  Will Jackson 100 meter, Matt karnick Pole Vault, Brad Wetjen disc.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                          

EVHS Book Club will be meeting on May 15 at Barnes and Noble in Apple Valley at 7:00 pm. We are reading Jodi Picoult’s Plain Truth. New members are always welcome. Hope to see you on May 15!

 

Bravo! Tickets are still available for Thursday and Friday.  The performance for Saturday, May 3 is sold out.  The Box Office is open from 6:30-7:30 on show nights and all performances begin at 7:30 pm

 

The International Club will be meeting today at 2:45 in Room B221. You are invited to join us as we make May baskets and learn about Spring and Summer holiday celebrations around the world.

 

There will be an important Prom committee meeting in Room C139 tomorrow morning beginning at 7:05 am.  All committee members should be there.

 

 All Robotics team members should meet this Wednesday in the C1 Cluster at 2:30 for assignments and carpool information regarding the international robotics competition this weekend at the University of Minnesota!!
