Our All School Awards Assembly has been moved from May 28 to June 4 beginning at 8:51 am in the Main Gym.  Please note this change on your calendars.

Student Absence Call-in Information:

Girls Track Parents:  There is a Booster Club meeting this Wednesday night at 7:00 pm in the Commons.  Please join us. 

 

Support our EVHS Speech Team!   Beginning May 12 through June 1, Pahl’s Market will donate 10% of your total purchases to the Speech Team.  All you need to do is mention the EVHS Speech Team when you are checking out and Pahl’s will do the rest.  This is an easy way to help the team while making your garden beautiful!

 

EVHS Introduces B.O.L.T.S. 2008Building Our Learning Throughout Summer!

We are building on our traditional summer programs by offering a series of elective-credit academic camps focusing on enrichment and skill development.  Check out our BOLTS 2008 Registration Guide, with course descriptions (13 courses available, from each of the four core content areas as well as several elective areas), session scheduling (four different sessions running from June 23 – July 24), and registration information (register online!).  These camps and courses are tuition-based, with financial aid available.  Contact Jodi Hanson – EVHS Student Services (952.431.8920 or jodi.hanson@district196.org) with questions or for more information.

 

Parents - Please mark your calendars now for PAK's annual Staff Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 14.  Volunteers will provide trays with parent donated breakfast foods as a way of expressing our thanks to all the EV staff.  Watch for information on how you can volunteer, donate goodies or make a monetary contribution for this special day.

Junior Parents: Mark your calendars… The 2008 senior parents invite you to join us on May 5 at 7:00 pm at Eastview High School, Room C250 so that your class can start your preparations for the 2009 Senior Class Party.  During this meeting, we will provide an overview of the party and the various committees that you will want to consider when planning the 2009 party.  Volunteer postions that need to be filled ASAP for this year’s party from Junior Parents2008 Senior Party Clean Up Chairperson and Security – Tradition states that Junior parents are in charge of cleaning up this year’s senior party and in charge of security on Friday June 13,  3:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Junior parents are also needed to help pick up donated food items -  Friday, June 13, afternoon and evening. Senior Parents  In order for us to ensure a successful 2008 Senior Party – We need more volunteersSet up volunteer shifts available - Thursday, June 12 - 3:00 pm-7:00 pm (Heavy Lifting) and/or 5:00 pm- 10:00 pm (General Decorating). Friday, June 13 - 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (General Decorating) and 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm (General Decorating). Would you like to enrich your children’s lives?  Help them make an international friend?  Give them a summer to remember?  Host a French student this summer!  There are many students who still need host families.  You provide room and board, include them in your regular summer activities and get an incredible experience for your family.  Students are coming in three groups: June 16-July 17, July 8-28 and July 9-28.  An informational meeting will be held Sunday, April 27 in Bloomington.  If you are interested in hearing more, please contact Mary Kuettner at mary.kuettner@district196.org .  

 

Congratulations to the following Eastview broadcasting students who won four National Television Academy Awards (otherwise known as Student Emmy Awards) and seven Honorable Mention Emmy Awards out of seven possible categories in the Upper Midwest Region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.Andrew Wipf won the Craft Achievement category for his Adobe After Effects portfolio.  Ben Wagner and Blake Hanson won the News category for their story on teen driving.  Blake Hanson, James Jobes and Matt Hoerl won both the Sports category and the Writing category for their piece on Tyler Cropsey.  Grant Swanson received an honorable mention in the Craft Achievement category for his special effects portfolio.  Michelle Patten earned an honorable mention in the Arts and Entertainment category for her story on the One Act performance.  Ashley Coyne and Taylor Paino earned honorable mention in the Public Service Announcement category for their piece called “Truth”.  Students in The Flash and The 4Cast received an honorable mention in the Long Form category for their episode of The Storm Watch.  Matt Hoerl and Colleen Schreier earned honorable mention in the News category for their story on the bridge collapse.  Taylor Paino and Matt Hoerl earned honorable mention in the Sports category for their story on the adapted soccer team.  Ben Wagner and Blake Hanson earned honorable mention in the Writing category for their story on teen driving.The Student Emmy is one of the nation’s biggest and most prestigious broadcasting contests.  The Upper Midwest region of NATAS covers most of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and portions of Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, and NebraskaEastview students have now won 15 Emmys and 14 Honorable Mention Emmys out of 21 possible categories over the past three years.Eastview’s winners will receive Emmy statues and certificates presented by a local television personality at the EVTV banquet on Sunday, May 4.  Many of the winning videos will be featured at the Eastview Film Festival on May 4 at 7:30 pm in the PAC.

 

ATHLETIC ANNOUNCEMENTS                                                                                               

Any Varsity Boys’ Basketball player can pick up his 07-08 season highlight video from Mr. Gerber in Room A204.  Contact Mr. Gerber with any questions.

 

All Boys Track and Field athletes need to report to the Weight Room for Mondays workout and announcements posted on the bulletin board outside the weight room.

 

Girls Track athletes:  Varsity meets outside today for practice and JV meets in the wrestling room for practice. 

 

SPORT SCORES                                                                                              

The cold, heavy rain affected the Varsity Girls Golf team last week as they took 4th place out of five teams in their second Lake Conference match of the year.  Sophomores Courtney Dockter and Kelly Uhrich led the Lightning followed by junior Bre Mathiesen and freshman Kristi Opatz.  Cross your fingers for good weather as the team travels to the Chaska Town Course on Monday for the Chaska Invitational.

 

ARTS AND ACTIVITIES                                                                                          

The Box Office will be open to sell Bravo! Tickets on the following dates:

 

Bravo! Tickets are still available for Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2.  The performance for Saturday, May 3rd is sold out.  The Box Office is open from 6:30-7:30 and all performances begin at 7:30 pm

 

AUDITIONS:   Auditions for the EVHS Fall Play for 2008 “The Kentucky Cycle” by Robert Schenkkan will be held today from 3:00-6:00 pm. Students must sign up for a 10 minute audition time and pick up audition materials in the Main Office.  Callbacks will be held Wednesday, April 30 from 3:00-8:00 pm. First read through is on Tuesday, May 20.  Rehearsal begins late August/ early September. The 7th annual Film, Video, and Animation Festival will be held on Sunday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the PAC.  Any students interested in submitting a video should turn it in to Mr. Krebs or Mr. Fornicoia by today.

 

The International Club will be meeting tomorrow at 2:45 in Room B221. You are invited to join us as we make May baskets and learn about Spring and Summer holiday celebrations around the world.

 

There will be an important Prom committee meeting in Room C139 on Wednesday, April 30 beginning at 7:05 am.  All committee members should be there.
