Should I register for the ACT or SAT test?

Colleges use these standardized tests as a way to compare students from across the country. Typically, they require the ACT or SAT Reasoning Test and/or three SAT Subject tests.

Math: algebra, geometry, trigonometry (4 questions).
Science: charts, experiments, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, problem solving.
Reading: four passages (Prose Fiction, Social Science, Humanities, and Natural Science). 10 questions for each passage.
English: stresses grammar.
Writing: A 30 minute essay that is optional and recommended (the score is not factored into composite score). |
Math: Basic geometry and Algebra II.
Science: none.
Critical Reading: sentence completions, short and long critical reading passages, reading comprehension. Vocabulary is stressed.
Writing: a 25 minute essay, and questions testing grammar, usage, and word choice. |
SCORING |
1-36 for each subject, averaged for a composite score. A 36 is the highest possible composite score. The optional essay is scored 0-12. |
Three scores of 200-800 per each section and 2 sub-scores of 20-80 for the writing multiple choice and 0-12 for the essay. These are added together for a combined score. A 2400 is the highest possible combined score. |
SCORING HISTORY |
There is a "Score Choice" option. Students can choose which schools will receive their scores AND which scores the schools will see.
Most colleges will take the higher of the two scores. Some may average scores the test is taken more than two times. |
If a student requests a score report be sent to specific colleges, the report will include the scores the student received on EVERY SAT taken. Most colleges will take the higher of the two scores. Some may average scores the test is taken more than two times. |
WRONG ANSWERS |
There is no penalty for wrong answers. |
There is a 1/4 point deduction for each wrong answer. |

Our testing code for all tests is: 242-123. The testing agency will communicate directly with you on items such as test location, test admission ticket, and any missing items or fees.
