Congratulations to the following Eastview broadcasting students who won four National Television Academy Awards (otherwise known as Student Emmy Awards) and seven Honorable Mention Emmy Awards out of seven possible categories in the Upper Midwest Region of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Andrew Wipf won the Craft Achievement category for his Adobe After Effects portfolio. Ben Wagner and Blake Hanson won the News category for their story on teen driving. Blake Hanson, James Jobes and Matt Hoerl won both the Sports category and the Writing category for their piece on Tyler Cropsey.
Grant Swanson received an honorable mention in the Craft Achievement category for his special effects portfolio. Michelle Patten earned an honorable mention in the Arts and Entertainment category for her story on the One Act performance. Ashley Coyne and Taylor Paino earned honorable mention in the Public Service Announcement category for their piece called “Truth”. Students in The Flash and The 4Cast received an honorable mention in the Long Form category for their episode of The Storm Watch. Matt Hoerl and Colleen Schreier earned honorable mention in the News category for their story on the bridge collapse. Taylor Paino and Matt Hoerl earned honorable mention in the Sports category for their story on the adapted soccer team. Ben Wagner and Blake Hanson earned honorable mention in the Writing category for their story on teen driving.
Eastview’s winners will receive Emmy statues and certificates presented by a local television personality at the EVTV banquet on Sunday, May 4. Many of the winning videos will be featured at the Eastview Film Festival on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the PAC.
The Student Emmy is one of the nation’s biggest and most prestigious broadcasting contests. The Upper Midwest region of NATAS covers most of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and portions of Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, and Nebraska.
Eastview students have now compiled a total of 17 Emmy awards (4 Emmys in 2007-2008, 6 Emmys in 2006-2007, 5 Emmys in 2005-2006 and 2 Emmys in 2004-2005). Eastview students also have compiled 22 honorable mention Emmy awards.
