MISSOURI TEAM CAMP 2008
Nineteen members of the Eastview Wrestling Team traveled to the University of Missouri in Columbia June 20th-24th and participated in a one week Team Camp. Each day the wrestlers received 3 hours of technique instruction and participated in 3 dual meet competitions. The camp provided an outstanding atmosphere for the wrestlers and coaches to work together in preparation for the upcoming season. Over 700 wrestlers from 44 schools representing 15 different states attended the camp.
The Eastview wrestling team was very successful in dual meet competitions going 7-2 in their pool and earning 2nd place honors. Each dual meet consisted of wrestlers competing in 15 different weight classes and wrestling a 4 ½ minute match. The last day each wrestler participated in an individual tournament. Ten of the wrestlers had one or less losses in the individual tournament to place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or consolation champ.
Olympic bound Ben Askrens (2X National Champ from Missouri) gave a motivational speech along with showing some technique. The wrestlers also decided to continue the tradition of going to Buffalo Wild Wings on the last night. Most of the wrestlers / coaches tried the "Blazing" wings.
Eastview finished with 115 individual match wins and 92 losses. Below is a list of the teams wrestled and each result.
