The Lightning Varsity Fastpitch program consists of the best softball players grades 9-12 at Eastview High School. Tryouts are conducted the first week in March. Indoor practices (cages, weight room, pitching machine, main gym) take up the rest of the month. In April the Lake Conference season begins with home and away games. The Lightning varsity hosts a tournament during the conference season, and in 2006 will play 3 non-conference games in San Antonio. In late May the Region 6AAA tournament determines who will go to the state tournament in June.

GAME RESULTS

Burnsville
The varsity softball team kicked off its Lake Conference season with a 3-0 loss to perennial powerhouse Burnsville. Alyssa Besch and Sam Kane both doubled in the game, but the Lightning couldn't string enough hits together to put any runs on the scoreboard.
Eagan 4/13 Eagan's pitching proved too much for the Lightning as they fell 10-0 Monday in 6 innings.
Eden Prairie 4/14 The Varsity softball team won its home opener yesterday with a 5 – 3 win over Eden Prairie.  Pitcher Laura Brenberg struck out 11, while Ashlee Hunt homered in her first at bat to give Eastview the early lead.  Sam Kane hit a 2-run double in the 6th inning to break a 3 - 3 tie.
Apple Valley 4/16

Although the Lightning could only muster two hits against some tough AV pitching, one of them (a 2nd-inning Lindsay Spanton homerun) was all pitcher Laura Brenberg needed. She struck out 12 as Eastview came away with a nerve-wracking 1-0 win over its crosstown rival.

Chaska 4/20

Kelly Meyer doubled and scored, and Ashlee Hunt hit a solo homerun to lead the Lightning to a 2-0 conference win. Laura Brenberg reached double-digit strikeouts for the third consecutive game.

Kennedy 4/21  Junior Lindsay Spanton hit a monster solo homerun in the 4th inning, and she also singled and doubled to lead the Lightning to a 4-1 win over Kennedy. Freshman pitcher Paige Palkovich threw 5 strong innings for her first varsity win.
