2008 9th Gr Schedule



 

The 9th grade Fastpitch season begins in early March with indoor tryouts. Talented freshmen softball players may be placed on the B-Squad, Junior Varsity, or the Varsity. Freshmen who are placed on the 9th grade team begin play in April. The opponents consist mostly of 9th grade squads from the Lake Conference. Freshmen players, recommended by their coach, may make the Region 6AAA Tournament team which consists of the best fastpitch players at Eastview.

Burnsville

The 9th grade softball team opened the season with a 9-3 loss at the Burnsville Blaze on Wednesday.

 

Eden Prairie
The freshman softball team lost to Eden Prairie on Monday by the score of 6-3.
Chaska

The freshman softball team defeated Chaska on Tuesday by the score of 10-0.  Paige Palkovich pitched a shut out and led the way with the bat along with Ashley Nelson and Jessica Schmitz.

Apple Valley

The freshman softball team lost a tough 3-2 game on Wednesday to the Apple Valley Eagles.

Great fielding by Taylor Sharp and Rachel Spika led the defense, but leaving too many runners on base contributed to the loss. 

Farmington
The freshman softball team suffered a tough 3-2 loss in 10 innings at Farmington on Monday.  The team went ahead 2-1 in the top of the 10th inning only to give up 2 runs in the bottom of the 10th.

Paige Palkovich led the way with solid pitching and also hitting a lead off home run.

Concordia Academy

The freshman softball team defeated Concordia Academy on Tuesday by the score of 7-1.

 Paige Palkovich led the way with solid pitching and with the bat.  Ashley Nelson, Sam Weinberg, Abbie Stern, and Jessica Schmitz contributed solid defense in the win.
Chaska

The freshman softball team defeated Chaska on Wednesday by the score of 15-3.  The hit parade was led by Kaitlyn Linder, Abbie Stern,  and Taylor Sharp, with solid fielding by Carissa Miller and Rachel Spika.

Bloomington Jefferson

The freshman softball team defeated the Jefferson Jaguars on Monday by the score of 4-0. 

The squad evened it’s record at 4-4 and will travel to Sibley High School on Tuesday.

Henry Sibley

The freshman softball team overpowered the Sibley squad on Tuesday by a score of 21-2.

Paige Palkovich had 11 strikeouts and Abbie Stern led the hitting with a home run.

The squad travels to Lakeville North Today.

Lakeville North

The freshman softball team lost a tough 9-7 contest at Lakeville North on Wednesday.   Early fielding miscues led to a 9-0 deficit that was too much to overcome.   Solid defensive contributions were made by Rachel Spika, Abby Stern, and Sophie Runing, and Sam Weinberg in the loss.

Lakeville South

The freshman softball team swept a double header from Lakeville
South on Saturday by the scores of 14-13 and 5-4.

In the first game, it was a hit parade, with timely hits by Taylor Sharp, Kaitlyn Lindner, and Abby Stern contributing to the win.

The second game went 8 innings with Taylor Sharp scoring the winning run on a hit by Katie Peterson.

Paige Palkovich was the winning pitcher in both games with a total of 8 strike outs in the 2 games.

Burnsville

The 9th grade softball team lost to the Burnsville Blaze on Monday by the score of 7-1. The season record now stands at 7-6.  Today the squad travels to Rosemount High School.

Rosemount

The freshman softball team lost at Rosemount High School on Tuesday in a rain shortened game by the score of 5-1.

 

Benilde

The freshman softball team defeated Benilde on Thursday by the score of 11-0 in 5 innings.

Solid pitching by Paige Palkovich, catching by Carissa Miller, and fielding by Rachel Spika and Sophie Running were integral in the win.

Eagan

The freshman softball team defeated Eagan on Monday in 6 innings by the score of 14-4.  Solid pitching by Paige Palkovich as well as timely hitting by Rachel Spika, Ashley Nelson, and Taylor Sharp were integral in the victory.
The team record now stands at 9-7.

Chaska

On Wednesday the 9th grade softball team defeated Chaska in 7 innings by the score of 8-0.  Paige Palkovich led the way pitching the shut out.

 

Lakeville North
On Thursday, the 9th grade softball lost to Lakeville North for the second time this year, this time by the score of 7-0.
