District 196 has Substitute Teaching opportunities are available for interested persons with a valid Minnesota teaching license or a bachelor's degree and are willing to obtain a short call limited teaching license. Substitute teachers earn $120 for full-day assignments and $70 for half-day assignments (up to four hours and 15 minutes). All short call substitute candidates must complete a 20-hour orientation (April 17-21, 2017) before they can begin substitute teaching; individuals with a standard teaching license must attend a 2.5-hour orientation session. The Eastview Wrestling team is currently selling lawn and garden fertilizer.  Item #1 is Crab Grass Control (Spring) - $19, Item #2 is Weed & Feed ( Early Summer) - $18, Item #3 is Lawn Fertilizer (Late Summer / Fall)  - $16, Item #4 is Garden Fertilizer - $15.  Each bag covers 4-5000 Square Feet.  Generally, the average size yard will take 2 bags per application.  Please contact an Eastview Wrestler or Coach Kurt Habeck @ to place an order or receive more information.  Orders due by April 4.    Products will be delivered to your home beginning April 12.         

Test Drive a Ford Motor Company vehicle and support the 2017 Senior Party. When: Thursday April 13 in the EVHS Stadium parking lot from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm. Apple Auto will have a number of different model vehicles on hand. The test drive will take you on a 2 mile drive around the school. For every completed test drive Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the Senior Party. Our goal is to complete 200 test drives. Please support us by coming out April 13! You must be 18 and have a valid driver’s license to participate.

Attention parents of all Winter Sport Athletes:  Many of our winter sports have concluded their seasons or will be in the coming weeks.  We ask that you take the time to fill out the survey located on the Eastview Athletics Webpage (you can get there by going to the Eastview Homepage ( or by going directly to and clicking on “Lightning HQ.” One of the drop down choices is Parent Survey.  These anonymous surveys are available to be filled out anytime throughout the year and provide valuable feedback to our coaching staff and athletic director as a part of their annual reflection process.  If you have a specific suggestion or concerns you would like to see addressed it is always recommended that you and/or your student athlete connect directly with the coach for the most immediate and individualized response.  

Are you interested in a letter jacket? The Second Life Letter Jacket program was developed to provide students an opportunity to have a letter jacket who otherwise may not have the resources to purchase one. All patches and embroidered names have been removed from the donated jackets by NHS volunteers (other than the Eastview logos).  In addition, each jacket has been professionally cleaned. EVHS Juniors and Seniors have an excellent opportunity to visit with Admission Representations from National and Regional Colleges and Universities right here in the Eastview College and Career Center (Student Services Area).  Please log onto your Naviance account (under the college tab) to view the entire list of colleges that will be visiting with students during the year.


Eastview’s First Robotics Competition team, Cobalt Catalysts, Team 3042, will be competing at the Minnesota North Star regional tournament Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8 at Mariucci Arena.  Competition times are from 9:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM.   Admission is free.  This year’s game titled FIRST STEAMworks has a steam punk theme where teams compete to Build Steam (shoot balls), Start Rotors (deliver ‘gears’) and Prepare for Flight (climb ropes) to launch their airship. FIRST Robotics Competition events are a great place for students to see how other students solve difficult physics challenges with a variety of solutions.  It is also a great place for business students to see how teams promote, brand, market and advertise. FIRST is a mentor-driven program where students learn directly from people with a variety of professional backgrounds.    It’s more than just the robots! 

Join LEAP to see and discuss part of the video Plastic Ocean.  We will be making posters to help students understand the effects of ocean pollution and what they can do to limit their role in ocean pollution.  Everyone is welcome. See you Thursday at 2:30 in C337.  

All FCCLA members are reminded to bring in their Easter basket items to Mrs. Ramsey. Items can include personal bath products, paper products, cleaning products, hair accessories, food items and small toys for the children of the 2 families, boys ages 1, 5 and 13 and girls ages 2,5, and 6. We will be putting the baskets together at the State Conference on Thursday March 24.

Materials/forms to be completed in order to become a candidate for induction into the Eastview chapter of the National Honor Society are now available. You can find the forms on the “Docs” page of the NHS website. Completed forms are due to the Main Office by 3:00 pm. Friday, March 24. Late forms/materials will not be considered. Experience the exciting sounds of the Las Vegas strip in, Bravo 2017: Viva Las Vegas! Online tickets are now available… From the Eastview home page, click on Arts &Activities, then Theatre Box Office. Performance dates and times are April 20, 21, 22, 27, and 28 at 7:00 pm and April 23 at 2:00 pm.  The senior citizen preview is Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m., which is free for all senior citizens.  Any remaining tickets will be sold at 3:15 pm to the general public for $5. For all other performances, the ticket costs are $9 for adults, $7 for Senior Citizens, and $5 for students and children.  The box office is also open for walk up sales one hour before each performance. We hope to see you at the show!

ATHLETICS (3/24/2017)

The Eastview Boy’s Golf Flower Sale is underway!  The team sells a variety of bedding plants ($19/flat), hanging baskets ($21) and planters ($27-$46), all locally grown at South Cedar Greenhouse.  This is the largest fundraiser of the year, with proceeds used to help fund practice and tournament costs. Boys Tennis tryouts will start Monday March 27 – Thursday March 30 1:00-3:00 at Apple Valley Arena. I know its spring break, so if you are on a family vacation let me know and that’s perfectly fine. Before anyone can tryout, they need to register for tennis and pay the fee. Any questions can be directed to Coach Olsen at 612-802-4929

3D Printer Training – all students are invited to learn how our 3D printer works and to begin designing personal projects.  Training sessions will be held every Tuesday at 2:30 in the Zapp Lab (Learning Commons).  Please sign up on our Zapp Lab web site ( or come to the Learning Commons any Tuesday during Q3 at 2:30. 

Zapp Lab Wish List – thank you for the donations of crayons and crafting materials that were given in the month of January.  This month we are hoping to gather some small hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, etc.) and basic workshop supplies (sandpaper, wood glue).  If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, please drop them off in the Learning Commons labeled “ZAPP LAB”.  Here is a list of other items that we will be using in our ever-growing Zapp Lab
