Ms.
Karalyn Koskela is
the general music teacher at Echo Park. Music education
moves students from the
fundamental levels of knowledge to the highest thinking
skills. Students understand and experience music
by identifying, listening, reading, writing, performing,
analyzing, creating and assessing. To fulfill the
learner outcomes, a wide variety of aesthetic and
cognitive experiences are provided in the general/vocal
music classroom. Students have experiences
singing, playing other classroom instruments,
listening and analyzing musical instruments,
musical compositions from many different composers,
styles and eras of musical history. Students read,
write, and create music. Each grade level presents
a concert once a year, which is a culmination of
concepts learned in the general/vocal music classroom.
