Early
Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a program for parents and their children
during the years from birth up to kindergarten. Our mission is to provide
quality learning opportunities and resources for all young families in
our district. ECFE is a fun, informal place to meet, learn and play with
other parents and young children. We offer a wide variety of classes,
one-time events, a family literacy program and several special opportunities.
Weekly classes:
ECFE offers classes Monday through Friday during the mornings, afternoons
and evenings. These classes meet weekly in the same location with the
same staff. A quarterly ECFE Catalog lists
all class offerings. Although a fee is charged for most quarterly classes,
it is our policy that no family is turned away due to inability to pay.
One-Time Events:
There are many ways to enjoy ECFE during the week! Drop-in Times, Speaker
Nights and special events will also be advertised in the quarterly ECFE
Catalog.
Family
School: Family School, a Family
Literacy program, is a collaboration between ECFS and Adult Basic Education.
Parents who are learning English as a second language, finishing their
high school degree or working on improving their work skills may attend
adult classes while their children participate in an Early Childhood program.
Parents also participate weekly in parenting classes.
Special Opportunities:
ECFE also offers special class opportunities because we recognize the
diversity of needs and concerns parents may have. These special opportunities
include a Teen/Young Parent class and Family Connection Plus (a collaboration
with Family Service, Inc., includes a home visiting option). For more
information on these offerings, please visit our ECFE
Catalog.
