About Me
I have been teaching in District 196 ECFE since its inception in 1987, first as a consultant, then in 1991 as a full time parent educator. Presently, I teach the 7-12 month old baby classes and work as a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment). I help manage the ECFE program and the Family School program in the district.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications. In 1991, I returned to the University of Minnesota and received a license in Parent Education and a Masters in Education. I am the author of "A New Sibling, Understanding the Feelings and Concerns of Your Older Child". This coloring book is used as an interaction activity and a teaching tool for parents as they bring home a new baby to an older sibling. I have also written curriculum for childbirth classes when I worked as an Infant Specialist and Childbirth Educator at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.
My husband and I have lived in Eagan for 31 years and have enjoyed the 196 school district. We have three grown married children and two granddaughters, whom we enjoy immensely.
Philosophy
I believe that parents are the most important, influential people in our children’s lives. As parents we are how children know they are loved and how the world around them works. It is through our tender loving care, our guiding example, and how we treat each other that our children learn about themselves and the world. Love your children, even with their flaws. Teach them that life is not always fair. Create for them a place of safety, both physically and emotionally. It is a daunting, exhausting, exhilarating task, but well worth the effort. Once your children are adults, you will have a glimpse of the job you did as a parent.
