Ski & Snowboard Club
For twelve years, Deerwood Elementary Staff members have coordinated a trip on certain weekday evenings in January to the Highland Hills Ski Area (HSSA) in Bloomington. The intent of the trip is for students to gain exposure and experience, confidence in an activity not usually found at school. Skiing and Snowboarding are not risk-free sports, but can be safe if one learns how to be responsible. So please consider.
Each night of the Ski/Snowboard Club, students will receive transportation from Deerwood to Highland and back to Deerwood, rental, a lift ticket and a 90-minute lesson with a group of skiers/snowboarders at their level. HSSA personnel deliver all skiing and snowboarding lessons. Our ratio of chaperones to students is about 1 to 9. Students will be required to check in with a chaperone every few hours and are expected to be at their lessons on time.
Staff and students who have participated have had wonderful experiences!
