The English Lanuage Learner (ELL) teacher teaches listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English to students whose first or native language is a language other than English. The District 196 ELL program at the elementary level functions as a support program for students demonstrating a need. Students receiving the ELL service are mainstreamed into the regular classroom and are taken out of the classroom on a daily basis for ELL instruction.
