Welcome to VOCAL MUSIC at Diamond Path

Music is a vital part of the curriculum at Diamond Path. Classroom music is offered on a six day cycle for 25 minutes twice in a cycle to all students in Grades K-5. During the year, each grade participates in a music concert.

The curriculum draws on a number of different teaching styles including Kodaly and Orff Schulwerk methodologies, and focus on the National Standards for Music Education which are:

There is also a strong emphasis on singing: in-tune singing and building good solo vocal and choral singing techniques. The history of music will be explored throughout the year, and we will often journey to other cultures to gain a better appreciation of the rich expressive language of music. Cross disciplinary music activities will also be included in the curriculum when appropriate.

The goal of the program is to produce musically literate students who can function successfully in a variety of musical situations, whether it be in the creation, appreciation (listening) or performance of music.
