Some notes from Nurse Neutz:
Health Information
Good health is basic to sound education and productive living. The purpose of the school health program is to maintain, improve and promote the health of the school-aged child. A full time nurse is available to assist you with any concerns regarding your child's health. Please advise her of any health conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, epilepsy, severe allergies, eye and ear problems, or any other chronic conditions. Please feel free to contact her at any time.Food Allergies
Children are the largest population group affected by food allergies. The foods that most commonly cause allergic symptoms in children are peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish, and wheat. Most children outgrow their allergies. However, an allergy to peanuts, tree nuts, (almonds, pecan, walnuts, etc.) and seafood is considered to be life long. There is increasing awareness of allergic reaction to peanuts throughout the country and in schools. In order to provide a safe environment for all students, we would like to be informed if your child has a food allergy.
Ways to Promote a Healthy Environment:
- Children should be dressed appropriately for the weather.
- It is very important for optimal learning that your child eat a nutritional breakfast every morning and have plenty of rest.
- Parents can be very important teachers and role models in teaching their children good hygiene and dental health practices especially as they near puberty.
Emergency Card Information
- Must be completed in black ink, signed by the parent or guardian and on file by the first day of school.
- Must be kept current throughout the school year. (Please advise the school nurse or the office of any changes by note or telephone.)
- Please note the option for permission for your child to receive Tylenol.
- If your child will be in the care of someone else for any reason please notify the school of who will be responsible for their care and who they may be released to in the event of a illness or emergency.
Treats
To help control disease epidemics, District 196 policy states that food prepared at home can not be distributed to other children in school. Treats need to be store bought and in the original unopened package. Projects requiring ingredients to be brought from home must also be in unopened packages. All preparation for these projects must take place at school.

Please feel free to call with any concerns or questions regarding you child's health. Also remember to call if there are any changes in your child's health status or family information on the emergency card. Thank you.
