KINDERGARTEN

Kindergarten is one of the most important and exciting years of your child's school career. It is a year full of opportunities for you and your child's teacher to work together in your child's growth. Feel free to contact us at anytime if you have any questions or concerns. We're looking forward to working together to make this a rewarding, successful year for your child!

The following is a list of suggestions and announcements relative to the Kindergarten procedure at Diamond Path.

Kindergarten Hours

School Patrols are on duty at their appropriate stations from 8:55 A.M. to 9:10 A.M., and 3:40 P.M. to 3:55 P.M. School doors open at approximately 9:10 A.M. Morning kindergarten classes are in session from 9:25 to 11:55 A.M. Afternoon kindergarten classes are in session from 1:15 to 3:45 P.M. Afternoon session students enter the building as their buses arrive. Afternoon walking patrols are also available for students who walk to school. The Kindergarten Plus classes are in session from 9:25-3:45. Children should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of each session, as supervision for children is not available.

Daycare Forms

If your child will be transported to and/or from a location other than her/his home address, a special form must be completed and returned to Diamond Path, who will forward it to the Transportation Department. Forms may be picked up at the office and, if at all possible, filled out at the time of Kindergarten registration. If the form is not returned by August 1st, transportation arrangements will not be guaranteed. It cannot be emphasized too strongly how important it is to have this form on file as early as possible, as it will affect the morning/afternoon status of your child.

Sharing Time

You can help your child choose something that will be of interest to others such as:

Sharing time will be handled differently in each class and the teacher will notify you of this.

Bus Name Tags

Please attach the bus nametags on your child for the first two weeks of school. This should eliminate any confusion, lost children, and hopefully a few tears. Be sure to fill out your child's bus nametag with: name, address, telephone number, and bus number that take them home or to daycare. (If your child is going to a daycare provider, then place that address and phone number on the nametag. This is very important!)

School Bags(tote or back pack)

Please have your child bring a large school bag each day. These bags are extremely helpful in making sure important letters, art projects, etc., reach their destination.

Labeling

It is important to label all of your child's personal items with permanent marker. This includes all clothing: coats, mittens, scarves, show and tell items, backpacks, etc.

Absences

When a student is absent from school, the parent must call the student absentee line and give the date, student's name, teacher and reason for the absence. See the Diamond Path home page for complete details on absence reporting.

Special Arrangements

If there are any changes in your child's daily going home routine, please notify your child's teacher by phone call or note on that day. Your child will not be released to anyone else, such as a neighbor, without written notification from you.

Birthday Treats

If you wish to send a treat for all the children from your child, it must be ñstore boughtî. Please keep in mind that some children may have food allergies. Your child's teacher will inform you of this at the beginning of the school year. Requests for passing out party invitations will not be honored unless an entire class is being invited.

Milk Program

Federal and State funds have made milk available for kindergarten students. Milk will be offered through Food Services. There will be no additional cost for parents. This program will begin sometime during the first month of school.
