Watch for occasional class newsletters that will be sent home in your child's Friday Folder. It will provide you with information on what has happened at school that week and highlight coming events.

AREAS of FOCUS this TRIMESTER

Please visit our 5th grade CURRICULUM area for further information.

In the first TRIMESTER, we will focus on the following areas of study:

  • Math: Number sense, addition, subtraction,multiplication, division of whole numbers and decimals
  • Writer's Workshop: Personal narrative writing
  • Reader's Workshop: Independent reading, guided reading,biography study
  • Science: Landforms
  • Health: Organization and study skills, leadership
  • Social Studies: Time For Kids
  • Responsive Classroom: Daily Morning Meeting
  • Technology: Creation of multimedia projects to present information learned about a world leader.

Specialists: In 5th grade, we are on a four-day cycle in which the specialist classes rotate through:

  • Physical Education
  • Spanish or Chinese
  • Art
  • Music

Your child will be attending Library, Technology and Enrichment classes also.
