AREAS of FOCUS in November
Language Arts
- Reading Workshop: Students will begin reading books in literature circles. They will be reading historical fiction about immigrants to Minnesota. Students will focus on learning about characters. Students will also work on writing and answering questions about their books.
- Writing Workshop: The students will continue to work on narrative stories. They are working to add interest to their writing with details.
- Word Study: The students are working on the "Must Know" word lists.
Math
- Students are working on multiplication. The students are continuing to work on adding and subtracting decimals using money.
Social Studies
- We will continue to study Minnesota. Your student will be learning about people who came to Minnesota from other parts of the world and why they stayed here. We will also be learning Minnesota history and the state symbols.
Science
- Students will learn about simple machines, such as the lever. Students will also learn about invention. They will all be creating an original invention.
