SchoolConnects Notification Service
District 196 subscribes to the SchoolConnects service to quickly notify parents by phone in the event of an emergency situation or change to the school schedule such as a weather-related cancellation, late start or early release.
Principals also use the SchoolConnects service to notify parents of important dates, events and other information specific to the entire school or group within the school.
Parents do not need to subscribe to receive the SchoolConnects notifications, but should make sure their child’s school has correct phone numbers on their emergency contact card. These numbers are also listed for each child in the SchoolView student information system that the district uses. The SchoolView database is continually updated and phone numbers are uploaded to SchoolConnects weekly for purposes of making notification calls.
In the event of a school schedule change related to weather, the district will make only one SchoolConnects call to the primary phone number for each child; duplicate numbers are not called again. In the event of a true school-wide or district-wide emergency, calls would be initiated to additional numbers for each child, which may include cell phones and work numbers.
SchoolConnects is a service of Synrevoice Technologies, Inc. District 196 began using the SchoolConnects service in spring 2009
