Welcome to Cedar Park Elementary
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) School

Dr. WalshDr. Walsh

Cedar Park is proud to host Dr. David Walsh on Monday, November 17th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Dr Walsh is one of the leading experts on parenting and the impact of media on children’s health and development.  He is the author of nine books including his latest book, No: Why Kids of All Ages Need to Hear it and Ways Parents Can Say It. The book serves as the focal point of the Say Yes to No campaign, which teaches parents and educators how to instill self-discipline in America’s children and ensure our kids are successful in school and life.  One of his hot topics is internet addiction and the dangers of MySpace.com.

Dr. Walsh is often a frequent guest on national radio and television, having appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, and the Early Show.

We are very excited to have him come and speak!  This opportunity is open to everyone in our school and is free of charge.  Childcare WILL NOT be provided.

Due to the popularity of Dr. Walsh, we are asking for you to RSVP for this event.  Please click on Dr. Walsh’s picture to open and print a registration form.  Cedar Park families will be given first opportunity to sign up.  Please return your completed form to Cedar Park by November 1st.  After November 1st, registration will be open to the entire district.

If you have any questions, please contact Diane Johnson at 952-431-8360.

STEM (click to learn more)

A Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) magnet is designed for students who enjoy challenges and investigating the world around them. Teachers use an innovative, hands-on curriculum to involve the children in asking questions and finding answers to real world issues. In this technologically advanced school, technology will be a strong tool to help students learn. With engineering, the students will work on projects that allow them to creatively design and build, putting into practice their math, science, reading, and communication skills.

Lebanon Hills

Recently, our 4th and 5th graders used the different types of technology available at Cedar Park STEM while on a field trip to Lebanon Hills. Students used GPS tracking devices and digital cameras to learn about Phenology (Phenology is the study of periodic plant and animal life cycle events and how these are influenced by seasonal and interannual variations in climate.
