About Me
Hi! I’m Susan Elsass and this is my third year teaching in district 196 as an Early Childhood Educator. I teach the Dad’s class, a Preschool Discovery preschool class and the Family School literacy class at the Rahncliff Learning Center in Eagan. Before working here, I taught in the Mounds View ECFE program for 13 years. I began my ECFE teaching in St. Paul prior to teaching in Mounds View.
I have a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in Elementary Education with an additional Preschool and Kindergarten license.
I’m married and have 3 children. My daughters are in college and my son is in high school. We also have a Jack Russell Terrier. I enjoy yoga, reading, riding my bike, playing tennis, kayaking, taking my dog for walks and traveling.
Philosophy
I believe that children’s work is their play. My job as an early childhood teacher is to provide the classroom with a variety of materials for children to explore that will promote their learning. Children all learn differently, so as a teacher I need to find out what their strengths and interests are, and how they learn best, so I can help them learn.
