Summer Bridge to School
Summer Bridge to School is a program for children who will start kindergarten the following September. The program is designed to prepare children for school by providing them with an experience very similar to kindergarten. Teachers will focus on developing beginning reading and writing skills, encouraging language development, participating in a group setting, following rules and routines and getting along with other children in a group.
Who can apply?
Only residents of School District 196 can apply. Students must be 5 years old by September 1 of the year they are enrolled, and need help with readiness skills for kindergarten. If you have questions about your child's readiness for kindergarten, please call the District 196 School Readiness Office at 952.431.8334.
Where are the classes held?
Classes are held in the school where your child will attend kindergarten (or the nearest elementary school if yours is unavailable). District transportation is provided, unless your child is within regulated walking distance.
