First Aid, CPR and AED for the Lay
Rescuer
Be prepared with lifesaving skills!
- Learn how to recognize and deal with emergencies including injuries and sudden illnesses.
- Learn how to provide care for emergencies, including assessing a victim's condition, clearing an obstructed airway, rescue breathing, performing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Lay Rescuer CPR courses are equivalent to the American Heart Association Heart Saver courses.
- Lay Rescuer First Aid and CPR courses are also available in a blended learning format. Study content online at your convenience and then practice skills under the direction of a Red Cross instructor. Call 651-683-6879 for more information.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Professional Rescuer CPR and AED offers training for employment in aquatics, health, law enforcement and other professions. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer is equivalent to American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification and provides a two-year certification for healthcare providers.
First Aid and CPR for Dogs
Just like with people, accidents and emergencies can happen to animals – so being prepared could make a lifesaving difference. Topics include symptoms and care for common ailments and emergencies; Instructions for creating a pet first aid kit, giving medications and how to recognize emergencies; tips on maintaining your pet’s health and well-being; and first aid guidance on caring for many canine health conditions. The textbook includes a DVD that demonstrates how to manage a variety of urgent care situations, including car accidents; wounds; electrical shock; and eye, foot and ear injuries.
