Homeschool/Nonpublic Education
The Community Education Department is the designee contact for School District 196 nonpublic/homeschool education.
Nonpublic/homeschools must comply with state requirements in accordance with the Minnesota Compulsory Instruction Law. This information is to be reported to the Community Education office by October 1 of each year or at any time during the year when the educational status of a school-age child changes. The law requires each public school district to annually report to the state the compliance status of all school-age children living within its boundaries.
Traditional Nonpublic Education
Community Education annually hosts an orientation for nonpublic schools within district boundaries. Schools receive information about compliance requirements and available programs and services. The 2012-2013 orientation is at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The meeting will be held at the District Office, Dakota Conference Room, located at 3455-153rd Street West, Rosemount.
Homeschool Education
Community Education will host an orientation for families planning to homeschool students during the 2012-13 school year. Families receive information about state compliance requirements and available programs and services. The orientation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. The meeting will be held at the District Service Center Conference Room located at 14445 Diamond Path, Rosemount.
