Community Education is …
Senior Adult Services

Community Education offers a wide variety of programs and services for senior adults to learn new skills, meet new friends, get involved and expand their horizons.

Seasonal activities are described in the Community Education catalog mailed to all district residents in September, January and March.

Aquatics
The Community Education Aquatics Program offers adult swim lessons and workouts in the water. Adults may learn to swim in group, private or semi-private lessons. Or they may participate in Drop-in Water Exercise, Lap Swimming, Deep-Water Aerobics, or Water Walking and Lap Swimming for Early Risers. Senior adults are welcome to enjoy drop-in public open swims (bring the grandkids along!). Call 651-683-6879 or click the Registration button on the left.

Area senior organizations
Community Education works with the area senior adult organizations and local Parks and Recreation departments to better serve senior adult customers. More information.

Fine Arts Events
Senior adults and persons with disabilities may attend free preview performances of District 196 fine arts productions, as well as district band and choral concerts. No reservations or tickets are needed. Call 651-423-7931.

Intergenerational Opportunities
Community Education and District 196 schools offer several intergenerational opportunities for senior adults and youth to learn and work together. Call 651-423-7931 for current opportunities.

Trips and Tours
Community Education offers adult trips and tours. The trips combine fun with education. Each offers a rare glimpse into a special Twin Cities community or neighborhood, or features a special exhibit, event or performance. At the end of the day, participants return home with increased knowledge and feelings of relaxation and enjoyment. View current trips
or call 651-423-7931.

Velvet Tones
Senior adults and others who love to sing may join the Velvet Tones, a choral group that performs for a variety of community activities. The group currently has more than 50 members, but it is always open to new singers. All levels are welcome! View more information about the Velvet Tones or call 651-423-7931.
