Community Education is …
Liaison to Home-School/Nonpublic Education

Ram R. Singh, Director of Community Education, is pleased to be the superintendent's designee for School District 196 nonpublic/home-school education.

Nonpublic/home schools must comply with state requirements in accordance with the Minnesota Compulsory Instruction Law. This information is to be reported to the Community Education office by Oct. 1 of each year or at any time during the year when the educational status of a school-age child changes. The law requires each public school district to annually report to the state the compliance status of all school-age children living within its boundaries.

Traditional Nonpublic Education
Each summer, Community Education hosts an orientation for nonpublic schools within district boundaries. Schools receive information about compliance requirements and available programs and services. The 2007-08 orientation is at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2007. The meeting will be held at the District Office Conference Room (14445 Diamond Path, Rosemount).

Home-School Education
Community Education also hosts an orientation for families planning to home school students during the upcoming year. Families receive information about state compliance requirements and available programs and services. The 2007-08 orientation is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. The meeting will be held at the District Office Conference Room (14445 Diamond Path, Rosemount).
