Kindergarten Plus
Kindergarten Plus is an optional, fee-based, extended day program that complements traditional free morning kindergarten. The program is a collaboration between Elementary Education, which oversees the morning kindergarten program, and Community Education, which administers the afternoon Kindergarten Plus program. Morning and afternoon sessions are taught by the same licensed kindergarten teacher, resulting in a cohesive, all-day experience for students.
Kindergarten Plus for 2008-09 will be available to students from all District 196 elementary schools. (Participating Red Pine students will be transported to and from Pinewood Community School for Kindergarten Plus.)
See list of Elementary School Times for Kindergarten Plus program times.
2008-09 Registration Information
The registration deadline for the 2008-09 Kindergarten Plus program is Friday, January 25.
In the 2007-08 random drawing, 90% of applicants were placed in their school of choice. The remaining 10% were placed on waiting lists.
Please note: Applying for the Kindergarten Plus program does not replace registration for regular kindergarten at your elementary school. Please see the Parents' Guide to Kindergarten or contact your school for more information.

Financial Assistance
Limited financial assistance is available for this program. If you wish to apply for financial assistance, you must complete the Application for Financial Assistance and provide documentation of the income amounts you list there. Income documentation can include any of these: copy of most recent year's tax form stating Adjusted Gross Income, copy of most recent year's W-2 tax withholding statement, or copies of three recent pay stubs that accurately represent your annual wage pattern. These documents are due at the time you apply for Kindergarten Plus.
