Independent School District 196 ranked 12 out of 51 Minnesota employers included on Forbes’ inaugural list of Best-in-State Employers for 2019, according to an article published June 5.

Forbes company logoForbes and market research company Statistica selected America’s Best-in-State Employers based on an independent survey of 80,000 Americans working for employers with at least 500 employees. The surveys were administered in a series of anonymous online panels that provide a representative sample of the U.S. workforce. The respondents were asked to rate how likely they would be to recommend their employer to others. They were also asked to nominate employers in industries outside their own. The number of employers ranked in each state was dependent on the number of qualifying employers and the size of the state’s workforce. Employers with operations in more than one state had the opportunity to be listed multiple times. The combined list includes 1,430 employers that received the greatest number of recommendations in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

District 196 is one of seven public sector employers on the Minnesota list and the only school district to make the state’s ranking. The 11 Minnesota employers ranked higher than District 196, in descending order, are: Andersen Corp., 3M, CenterPoint Energy, General Mills, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Hennepin County, Medtronic, Costco, Kwik Trip, Delta and Mayo Clinic at number one.

“District 196 is a school district of choice for families because of the quality of education provided and the boundless opportunities available for students to pursue their infinite possibilities in academics, arts and athletics,” said Superintendent Mary M. Kreger. “This recognition from Forbes shows that District 196 is also a district of choice among employees, allowing us to attract and retain the best teachers, administrators and support staff in our industry.”
