Minnesota’s Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Commissioner of Higher Education Dennis Olson visited Parkview Elementary School WeMinnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and Commissioner of Higher Education Dennis Olson read a book to studentsdnesday, March 6. Flanagan and Olson talked with second-grade students, who have been studying a unit on Ojibwe. Flanagan is a citizen of the White Earth Nation of Ojibwe and Olson is a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. They read a book to the students, “Bowwow Powwow” by author Brenda Child and illustrator Jonathan Thunder, and taught them some Ojibwe words during their hour-long visit.
