Hansen chosen next principal at Rosemount Middle

District 196 Superintendent Jane K. Berenz announced the hiring of Eric Hansen to be the next principal at Rosemount Middle School.

Hansen has been the assistant principal at Rosemount Middle since 2008. He will replace Mary Thompson, who is retiring at the end of this school year following a 30-year career in District 196, including the last 13 as principal at Rosemount Middle. Hanson will officially take over as principal July 1.

“I am very grateful and excited to be able to continue serving the students, families and community of Rosemount Middle School in this new role as principal,” Hansen said. “Rosemount Middle is an outstanding school community with talented and dedicated staff, great students and supportive parents.”

Hansen started his career in education in 2000 as a second-grade teacher and dean of students in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District. In 2002, he joined District 196 as a media specialist at Shannon Park Elementary School, where he worked for three years before taking his first administrative position at Falcon Ridge Middle School in 2005.

Hansen has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, received a master’s degree in library media education from Minnesota State University, Mankato and also earned a specialist degree in educational administration at Minnesota State.
