Physical Exam Clinics Offered For District 196 Athletes and Cheerleaders

District 196 has scheduled three dates this summer for student physical examinations for athletes, cheerleaders and danceline members who do not have a current physical on file with the middle school or high school that they will attend in the 2008-09 school year.

The physical examinations will be offered Saturdays, Aug. 2, Aug. 23 and Sept. 6, 8 to 11 a.m. each day, at Park Nicollet Clinic, 14000 Fairview Dr., next to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. This is a walk-in clinic, no appointments needed; please do not call the clinic.

The cost is $20 per student and checks should be made payable to Independent School District 196. No credit cards will be accepted. Physical forms will be available on site and students do not need to bring a urine sample. A parent or guardian must be present or provide signed consent for each child having a physical.

The Minnesota High School League requires middle school and high school students who participate in interscholastic athletic, cheerleading and danceline activities to have a physical examination at least once every three years. Students who have had a physical within the last three years but would like a current physical are also welcome.

For more information on the physical exam clinics, contact your child's school nurse or Eileen Wigley RN, LSN sport physical coordinator, at 952-431-8375. Please do not call Park Nicollet Clinic.
