Important End of the Year Information

The AVHS Class of 2012 Graduation Ceremony will be an indoor event on June 2, beginning at 6:00pm, per the request of the senior class All-Night-Party parent leadership committee. Because the graduation ceremony will take place in the AVHS gymnasium, tickets will be required for admittance.

On June 1, at 8:30am, the Class of 2012 will report to the AVHS gymnasium for graduation rehearsal. At the conclusion of the rehearsal, each senior will receive four tickets to the Graduation Ceremony in the gym and two tickets to the theatre where the ceremony is shown on closed circuit TV. Additional tickets will not be available as we have limited seating in the gym and theatre areas.

Personally speaking, the graduation ceremony is a much nicer ceremony indoors. We can hear the band and choir performing, we can hear the guest speakers with our indoor audio equipment, we get to enjoy the comfort of air-conditioning, and enjoy the better sight lines. I am very pleased to make the indoor decision now so we dont have to play the weather game and make an indoor or outdoor decision at noon on June 2. Since our stadium opened in the late 1990s, we have only been outside twice for graduation. One outdoor ceremony had a temperature of 94 degrees when we started, the other outdoor ceremony had a 30 MPH wind blowing. Since the early part of June tends to be our wettest time of the year, rain (or the chance of rain) has forced us indoors for all but two AVHS graduation ceremonies. Odds are very high that we would be indoors anyway. I fully support the request by the senior All-Night-Party parents to move graduation indoors.

The $40.00 Graduation Fee is due on April 6 in the Main Office. The attachment has the ½ sheet form, and the form explains what this money used for. About 130 families have already paid the graduation fee, thanks for taking care of this early!
