Academics - Lesson Policy

Lesson Policy

In an attempt to encourage regular lesson attendance during the course of a trimester, the following policy has been established regarding missed lessons:

  • Any missed lesson must be made-up prior to the student’s next regularly scheduled lesson. For example, a missed “B day” lesson must be made-up before the next “B day” lesson on the lesson calendar.
  • Lessons not made-up within the allotted period of time will be recorded as a zero, and will not be able to be made-up by the student during the trimester.
  • A student who misses a lesson on his/her regularly scheduled lesson day must see his/her lesson teacher immediately after missing the lesson (preferably immediately after that class period). At that time, the lesson teacher will schedule that student for a lesson time on the upcoming make-up day (there is one make-up lesson day scheduled during every lesson rotation).
  • If the lesson was missed due to absence from school, it is the student’s responsibility to see the lesson teacher immediately upon returning to school to schedule a make-up lesson.
  • In the event that a student knows about an upcoming missed lesson (for example: scheduled during a planned field trip or family trip), it is to his/her advantage to bring that to his/her lesson teacher’s attention prior to the missed lesson.
  • Extenuating circumstances must be brought to the attention of the lesson teacher.
  • The practice of “waiting in line” for unclaimed lesson passes will continue as it has in the past, with the exception of the final make-up days during the trimester.
  • Questions should be addressed to a director.
