Jazz Ensemble

Participation in the Jazz Ensemble is open to all jazz instrumentalists. Placement into one of our three Jazz Ensembles is determined by audition each fall. Interested students will be given a jazz etude to prepare. The audition will consist of this etude, a short sight reading etude, and improvisation over a slow blues in F, or, a fast glues in B flat. For improvisation practice, students are advised to purchase Jamey Abersold’s Nutin’But the Blues, Vol. 2 at a local music store. The Jazz Ensembles rehearse from October to mid-May and have several opportunities to perform in concert.

Jazz Ensemble 1 rehearses Monday and Wednesday from 2:30 – 4:00 pm

Jazz Ensemble 2 rehearses Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00 pm

Ninth Grade Jazz Ensemble rehearses on Tuesday from 2:30 – 4:00 pm
