Newspapers/TV Broadcast Links/Groliers day in history/others

The Thomas Lake Newsteam is made up of fifth graders who apply to participate at the beginning of the year. They must fill out a written application demonstrating that they can write news events clearly and concisely. Then, those that have passed the written portion of the application are given an examination on their ability to reading aloud. The students with the best of these two performances (written and spoken) are chosen to make up the Thomas Lake Newsteam. They are recognized at the beginning of the year and those who complete their responsibilities of preparing the daily news as they should, get recognized at the end of the year during their graduation ceremony plus, they get a certificate of participation. We have two people prepare the news each day (one is the "on" person and the other is a backup) so that we always prepared. They divide their spoken parts each day and have a lot of fun participating.
