On Friday, February 6th several members of our STEM team will be attending the first elementary engineering conference offered in the state. I will be sharing what I've learned teaching the Engineering is Elementary curriculum. To my knowledge, we have covered more units here at Cedar Park than any other school in the metropolitan area. Other STEM specialists will be sharing how we incorporate the engineering design process into the classroom, our Exploration classes, and even into our after school classes. We are eager to learn what other schools are doing and what else we can do to enrich what is happening here at Cedar Park. We are starting on our second round of engineering units for each grade level, and the fifth grade classes are requiring that a design challenge be completed each month. This month's challenge is to construct a "Go-slow marble ramp" in a shoebox. |
