Speech is a MSHSL sponsored activity in which students compete individually in one of 13 different categories.   Preparation for competition can include writing and performing an original script, performing a selection from a published work of literature, participating in a small group discussion, or speaking extemporaneously on current events.   At Saturday tournaments in February and March, students participate in a three "rounds" of competition hoping to advance to a final round.
