Inventors fair takes hiatus!
For the past 20+ years the Inventors Fair has been a part of District 196. This creative event, open to all 4th and 5th graders, was part of the bigger Metropolitan Educational Cooperative Service Unit’s ( ECSU) What If? invention program. Students participating in our local fair were encouraged to submit their inventions for display at the Metro Fair in the spring. Late this summer ECSU decided to retire this student opportunity. We have decided to follow suit with ECSU’s decision and work with students, parents and science specialists to revamp this offering for our students. We hope to return to some type of creative problem solving opportunity in the 2013- 2014 school year.
Many buildings will continue with building wide Inventors Fairs this winter. If you have judged in the past and would like to be a part of the judging process at these fairs, please contact Pam McDonald at Pam.McDonald@district196.org.
Change is always difficult but we hope with your support and input we can design a new opportunity that will continue to serve our most creative students even better in the future.
