Mission The mission of the school nurse is to facilitate and strengthen the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students. School nurses identify and assist the removal or modification of health-related barriers to learning.
Healthy students are better learners
Keep your child home from school when:
They have experienced vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours;
They have had a fever of 100.0 degrees or more within the last 24 hours;
They have signs of contagious diseases such as strep throat, pink eye, impetigo, ringworm, etc. - children may return to school after they have been on medication for 24 hours;
They are waiting for a strep throat culture to be read;
They have head lice - children may return to school when they are treated, are nit-free and seen by the school nurse, or
They have had chicken pox for 7-10 days or until scabs are dry.
