Financial Reporting Award

For the 14th year in a row, District 196 earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). This year’s certificate recognizes excellence in the preparation and issuance of the district’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2015.

Financial Reporting Award

The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International has awarded ISD 196 - Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools its Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in budget presentation during the 2015–2016 budget year.

The Meritorious Budget Awards (MBA) program promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria.

The District 196 Finance Department is responsible for compiling the district budget, processing payables, receivables and payroll.

The department uses conservative assumptions, projections and budgeting practices to manage the district’s finances. For example, the conservative approach is applied to enrollment projections, state aid revenue projections and projections of property tax delinquencies and abatements.

In accordance with state law, District 196 has an independent audit performed each year. Results of the annual audits are included in the Annual Financial Report.
