Legislative Advisory Council

Enhance community understanding of legislative proposals that impact District 196 and promote citizen involvement in the legislative process

The LAC consists of five citizen members with experience in government affairs lobbying and/or the legislative process and one representative each from the following eight District 196 advisory councils and committees: Budget, Curriculum and Instruction, Community Education, Early Childhood Family Services, Integration and Educational Equity, Native American Parent Advisory Council, River Valley Project Explore and Special Education. The district communications director and members of the School Board Legislative Committee are ex-officio members of the LAC. Terms on the LAC begin July 1 and end June 30. Citizen members serve two-year terms. Members representing the eight advisory councils serve terms that coincide with the terms of office on the advisory council they represent.
