Integration and Educational Equity

Pursuant to MN Statute 124D.86, districts with racially isolated schools are required to develop and submit an integration plan to the Minnesota Department of Education that addresses educationally appropriate, voluntary ways to integrate schools. Cedar Park has been racially identified since 2004 and has since become a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) magnet school.
The 2011-14 Integration and Educational Equity Plan was approved on March 14, 2011 by the School Board and has been submitted to the Minnesota Department of Education. The Integration and Educational Equity Plan was developed by a 19-member Community Collaboration Council that consisted of parents, teachers and other district staff. A comprehensive evaluation of the plan which consisted of focus groups, analysis of student achievement data, financial records, and magnet school implementation contributed to the development of the plan. The Integration and Educational Equity Plan budget is approved on an annual basis by the Minnesota Department of Education.
